sites and partly under Spencon Ltd as outlined below;-
October 2004 to January 2006 – Quantity Surveyor with Peter Cheyney & Associates, a consultant firm for Civil Engineering contractors specializing in contract advisory, income protection, project management and claims. I worked as a site based Quantity Surveyor with the company’s clients in the following named projects on behalf of the firm;-
March – December 2005: – Dar es Salaam Water and Sanitation Project – Rehabilitation of Transmission mains and Service Reservoirs, a US$14.8 million project. Attached to the Main Contractors, (Spencon Services Ltd), I was in charge of the site quantity surveyors’ team and charged with overseeing the whole measurement and valuation process, handling contractual matters, claims and assisting in resource planning and monitoring.
November2004–Feb2005 – Sondu-Miriu Hydro power Project, western Kenya. This is a multi- contract project, where I was seconded to the main contractors (Konoike-Taisei JV) for the US$ 49million Civil works contract. I was charged with re-measurement of all the quantities as per contract drawings, identifying deviations from the measured quantities and writing a report on the same.
October2004 – Kisian – Bondo Road Reinstatement Project, a US$ 8.3 million in Western Kenya, on secondment to the main contractors. I was charged with collecting all information for preparation of a claim, and preparing the preliminary claim document.
June2002–October2004: Site Quantity Surveyor for a US$6.6million Garissa Water Supply Project. The project entailed construction of a new water supply scheme and rehabilitating an existing one. Works included construction of an intake, laying 115km of pipeline, new water treatment plant, electromechanical works, high level sectional steel distribution tanks, borehole drilling and associated building works. I was charged with all the site quantity surveying duties including measurements/valuations and preparation of payment applications, quotes, handling contractual matters such as responding to contractual correspondences, preparation of status reports, work programmes and claims.
