The three-bedroom earthbag house is compact, yet highly efficient and comfortable. This earthbag house captures the timeless and magical appeal of earth sheltering in the round. This modern earth bag with living roof will keep you cozy and warm even in the harshest climates, because it is compact, earth- sheltered and super insulated. Spacious Windows and skylights over the kitchen ensure ample daylighting in the earthbag. Quality detailing is evident throughout like open, comfortable layout, built -in bench and a fireplace. On the cooler east side there is a large outdoor flagstone patio. The earth bag house features three bedrooms, two baths, kitchen among others. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet, and a private bath, and is opposite the other bedrooms for privacy. The earthbag house also has a large living area and a grow space. The bedrooms are spacious with computer desks, a large modern kitchen and a wood stove. The earthbag house also has a laundry room with mop sink and closet. The kitchen is spacious with pantry and island, passive solar design and built-in cabinets. It has a cathedral ceiling over the main living space, a passive solar design and a large porch on the west to block the hot afternoon sun. The sloped living roof and earth berming helps the natural house blend into its environment. A vine covered pergola dresses up the southern side of the house and helps it to cool. An undulating thatch roof or living roof is created by a varying the knee wall height above the bond beam. The earthbag steps are covered with cement plaster. There is also a cellar door to keep rain and snow off the stairs. The inner circular wall is built of recycled brick for strength and rustic effect. There is an optional storage room on the north. The earth floors, earth plaster and earthbags provide thermal mass to store excess heat thus providing an even, comfortable inside temperature in moderate climates.
