1.Brief Development.

The project was conceptualized after meetings between Rotary Club of Ngong Hills and Ngong Boda Boda Sacco members at Ngong town . The initial meetings with Ngong Bodaboda Sacco chairman and members were initiated by Past President RCNH Irene Wamaitha during her tenure in the 2018/2019 year.
The Bodaboda members requested for ample space to park their motor cycles and a small room to store their jackets, helmets and other accessories.

2.Architectural design and county approvals.

Architectural design and application for Kajiado County approvals were undertaken by Rotarian Francis Gichuhi of www.a4architect.com at a cost of kes 12,000 . This cost was donated to the club by Rotarian Francis Gichuhi.

3.Selection of Fabricators.

Rotarian Francis Gichuhi shared the architectural drawings with Rotary Club of Ngong Hills asked the Rotary Club of Ngong hills members to pass the drawings to any Metal Fabricators they knew for them to quote for the works. The contract was to be labour only whereby Rotary Club of Ngong hills was to pay the fabricator directly for their labour and Rotary Club of Ngong Hills to source and procure the materials directly from any local hardware.
Materials Procurement.
Testimony Hardware, the largest hardware shop in Ngong town was selected to be the supplier for the materials. Rotarian Njunge Ndugire was selected to be in charge of procuring the building materials and supplying the same to the contractor at the site.

Quotations.

Fabricators returned their quotations as follows.
Fabricator 1. Cost of labour. Kes 30,000. Cost of materials kes 30,000. Total cost kes 60,000
Fabricator 2. Cost of labour kes 30,000. Cost of Materials. Kes 160,000. Total cost kes 190,000
Fabricator 3. Cost of labour. Kes 60,000. Cost of materials. Kes 175,000. Total cost . kes 235,000
Fabricator 4. Cost of labour plus cost of materials. Kes 1,000,000
Fabricator number 2 was the most responsive and was selected to construct the shade.

4.Construction process.

Rotarian Njunge purchased the materials from Testimony hardware and brought in the receipts as below

These total to kes 146,850 paid to Testimony Hardware, Ngong and local timber, sand and ballast sellers.

5.Labour costs.

Fabricator labour costs were kes 30,000.

6. Electricity , Storage for the works. Supplier 1.

Initial electricity and storage was sourced from a nearby fabricator. Costs for this will be availed when receipt received.

Electricity.kes 2,500. Storage. Kes 3000. Security. Kes 500. Cable extension. Kes 1,500. Water. Kes 1000.

7.Finally, electricity for the works was sourced from a nearby residential house. Costs and payments for this is as below.

The billboard poster printing and fixing cost kes 3,500. This was coordinated by Rotaractor Lina Lugeresia.

Fabrication was completed within budget.

• Architectural design and county approvals. Kes 12,000. Donated by Rotarian Francis Gichuhi. Not included in the total cost of project.

• Construction process. Kes 146,850 as receipted. Costs of ballast, sand and fascia board not included.

• Labour costs . kes 30,000

• Electricity,Storage, Water for the works. Kes 13,000.

• Cost of billboard poster. Kes 3,500

TOTAL RECEIPTED COSTS=KES 193, 350
